The End of Film

“If you’ve watched home movies from the ’60s or early ’70s, chances are you’ve seen what the world looks like through Kodachrome 40. This Super 8 film stock has preserved a generation’s memories in its brilliant, warm colours, rendering our collective fantasies in flickering, saturated images…But the stark reality of Kodachrome’s demise didn’t sink in for me until last month.” -Omar Majeed

Well told story here; personal; poignant; about the end of Kodak’s Kodachrome film. An end of a type of memory; and a reflection on the methods by which we record memories now. Lots of stuff in here, all driven by a very human story, the kind needed for any truly relevent discussion of our relationship to technology.
